Since my boys love my Homemade Chocolate CLIF Kid ZBars I thought I would make Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Clif KID Zbars for a change. They did not disappoint! In fact my 7-year-old informed that he liked this version better “because you can see the chocolate chips”.
Just like my chocolate version, oatmeal is the main ingredient in these bars making them a great source of whole grains.
These Zbars are naturally sweetened using Medjool dates, which are a great alternative sweetener for baking. Dates are high in fiber, a great natural energy source, and they are high in calcium and phosphorus which work together to build strong bones and teeth.
Make sure to purchase pitted dates, otherwise you will need to remove the pits beforehand and trust me, nobody has time for that! I buy dates at Costco or H-E-B, they are usually located near the fresh produce.
These Zbars come together very quickly and they are full of wholesome ingredients. They are gluten free and you can even make them dairy free by using almond milk.
I hope you kiddo enjoys these as much as my boys do! Make sure to share your pictures and tag me on Instagram!
