Healthy Double Chocolate Brownies that are gluten, dairy and refined sugar-free! Sounds too good to be true! Decadent, moist and fudgy, these brownies are not only delicious but they really are healthy!
Now I am not saying you should eat the entire pan yourself, but since they are packed with oats, healthy fats and sweetened naturally with maple syrup, one (or two) is perfect for a weekend treat.
I love chocolate and it is the one thing I still crave when it comes to desert. Eating a real food diet, full of fruits and vegetables dramatically decreases my sugar carvings, but chocolate always sounds good!
So how do you make a healthy brownie that actually tastes good? I have tried so many recipes that completely leave out butter or oil and call for applesauce instead, and as good as the idea of a fat-free brownie sounds, it just doesn’t taste good. Besides, healthy fats are good for us!
Oats are naturally gluten-free and are so healthy, so they are always my go-to when I am baking gluten-free. Coconut oil is a healthy saturated fat that is good for us (in moderation).
The brownies are sweetened using pure maple syrup. While too much of any sugar can be a bad thing, natural sweeteners are processed by the body differently than refined sugar.
When paired with whole grains, natural sweeteners won’t cause the blood sugar to rise quickly and fall quickly, creating a crash and causing us to crave that sugar high over and over again. But the best part about this recipe is the secret ingredient!
Using avocado gives these brownies the moist and fudgy consistency, that so many healthy brownie recipes are missing (in my opinion).
Healthy double chocolate brownies are so easy to make, you can mix them up using just one bowl and have a chocolate dessert to satisfy those cravings in no time!
