While there is an opportunity for financial gain from any sales, I promise to only share my personal experience and honest opinions about Juice Plus+. My entire family takes Juice Plus+ everyday and I would never back or sell a product that I did not stand behind 100%.

The truth is I can’t answer that definitively for anyone because 1) I am not a doctor and 2) I don’t know your total situation/medical history. That being said I can share with you my personal opinions about why my family does not take multi-vitamins and what we do instead. I can also share with you the information that led me to make that decision for my family.
More than half of all adults in America take some sort of multivitamin, but a recent study suggests that multivitamins offer little or nothing in the way of health benefits and that we should all stop wasting our money on them.
Dr. Edgar Miller, professor of medicine and epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and co-author of the editorial did say “For people with deficiencies, mal-absorption issues, and to prevent neural tube defects in pregnancy — there are a small number of conditions where we prescribe them.”
Multi-Vitamins, especially for kids, are oftentimes full of artificial sweeteners, colorings, and flavorings and since these are all things that I try to avoid feeding my family then it seems like giving them a vitamin full of that junk every single day would be counter productive.
I believe that we should get our nutrients and vitamins from whole food sources. Years ago when I began my “real food journey” I read Michael Pollan’s Food Rules and it just made sense to me. I highly recommend reading this book, but here is a short summary of his “food rules”. The statement that speaks to me most from this book is simply “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.” Plant foods are the richest, most bountiful sources of vitamins and minerals as well as fiber. They contain hundreds of thousands of phytochemicals, and many of these contain disease-fighting properties that a laboratory can’t duplicate.
So there you have it, those are the reasons why my family does not take a multi-vitamin. What we do instead is eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables (with a variety of colors), drink a lot of water, we eat food that is minimally processed and avoid overly processed and fast foods and limit our sugar intake.
That being said I will be the first to admit that eating 7-13 servings of fruits and vegetables every single day can be challenging. Even those of us with the best of intentions struggle to consume the recommended amounts in a variety of colors to ensure we get all of those much-needed phytochemicals and antioxidants. Throw in a busy schedule and a few picky eaters and this challenge becomes almost impossible!
So what do we do? We take Juice Plus+ in order to fill in the nutritional gaps in our diet.
What is Juice Plus+? Juice Plus+ is whole food based nutrition, including juice powder concentrates from 30 different fruits, vegetables and grains. It is NOT a multivitamin, medicine, treatment or cure for any disease.
Juice Plus+ is made by taking farm fresh fruit and vegetable varieties that are grown, harvested and cleaned, then juiced, and dried. The concentrate is then blended and encapsulated. Check out this video of the process.
Juice Plus+ has two main products; the Orchard and Garden Blend DUO, made from 20 different fruits, vegetables, and grains (oat and rice bran) including the juice and pulp from apple, papaya, beet, pineapple, broccoli, spinach, kale and cabbage to name a few. The Vineyard Blend, is made from an additional 10 fruits and vegetables, includes grapes, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, bilberries, and elderberries, artichoke pomegranate and cocoa.
These blends are also available in their chewable form for children or adults, but the capsules do include Lactobacillus acidophilus, a gut friendly probiotic.
OK now that we have talked about what Juice Plus+ is let’s go into what I love about it! As I mentioned earlier in this post I absolutely believe in getting our nutrients from whole foods not synthetic multi vitamins, but Juice Plus is not a vitamin. It is just concentrated fruits and veggies. If you take a look at the back of the package of Juice Plus+ you will find that it has a nutritional food label not a supplement label as vitamins do.
Let me be clear I do not recommend taking Juice Plus+ in place of eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Our body needs the benefits of eating fruits and veggies in their whole form. I simply believe that taking it can support a healthy lifestyle and provide nutritional benefits.
Since taking Juice Plus+ on a regular basis my family has noticed quite a few benefits. The first (and most important to me) is that my husband and I have not been sick once since starting it and my children have only had one mild cold. They have been in school since September, it is now February and they have not caught anything else! This is amazing to me because normally, once the school year begins we go through the stomach bug, common cold, Strep and usually one case of the Flu.
Other benefits we have noticed include increased regularity in one of my kids who used to struggle with this, clearer skin, I have never had an acne problem but since taking Juice Plus my skin is noticeably clearer. I have noticed a decrease in sugar cravings and I have also stopped getting menstrual cramps! That’s right ladies, I used to suffer from at least one day of menstrual cramps each cycle and that has gone away. I also used to get migraine headaches at least once a month, and I cannot recall the last time I had one. My husband, who suffers from chronic back pain and arthritis has said that “his pain has significantly decreased these last few months” and he has stopped taking anti inflammatory pain medications that he used to take daily.
Now while I cannot say with absolute certainty that all of these benefits are attributed to Juice Plus+ I can honestly say that it is the only change we have made. For years now we have eaten a clean, whole food diet and while we noticed immediate benefits from that diet change, the recent changes listed here were only noticed after introducing Juice Plus+.
I was first introduced to Juice Plus during my training courses to become a Certified Health Coach. It was recommended in place of multi-vitamins. So after doing my own research into the company and its products I decided this was something that my family (and most people) could benefit from. After all, it is made from real fruits and vegetables, and even as a health coach I was struggling to ensure that my kids and husband ate enough fruits and vegetables every single day.
The science and clinical research behind Juice Plus+ made it an easy decision for me. Which brings me to another reason that I love Juice Plus+, the Children’s Health Study makes it available to children ages 4-18 (or college age) for FREE as long as an adult sponsors them by signing up as a customer. For your child to get it for FREE all you have to do is:
- Sign up as a Juice Plus+customer.
- The Study provides Juice Plus+ Orchard Blend and Juice Plus+ Garden Blend free to your child between the ages of 4-18 or full-time undergraduate college student for up to four years, so long as you continue to take Juice Plus+, too.
- At various intervals, you will be asked to fill out a simple, voluntary survey to determine whether (and how) you or the child’s health habits have changed as a result of taking Juice Plus+
The last thing that I love about Juice Plus+ is simply that the core beliefs of the company are meant to inspire healthy living and encourage a healthy lifestyle beyond taking their product. It is not meant to replace fruits and vegetables in our diets but simply to bridge the gap. Juice Plus+ and its virtual franchise owners encourage and teach others to make simple changes in our diets and lifestyle towards better health and that is something that I can stand behind!
